Avocados

What’s round, delicious, and green all over? An AVOCADO!! Avocados are one of our favorite super foods. They are not only cholesterol and sodium free, but they are also a fruit that contains over 13 vitamins and minerals like potassium, iron, and vitamin A. We can’t get enough of these creamy treats!

On top of all of this, avocados are also a wonderful source of slow burning energy. Since they are low in sugar, high in fiber, avocados aid in giving us a slow burning energy that can last the whole day.

Another important aspect of this fruit is that it is the ONLY fruit that contains monounsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fats are the “good fat” that helps to lower “bad cholesterol” and reduce cardiovascular disease risk.

We eat our avocados in so many different ways; and although it’s sometimes tough to stick to the serving size (1/5 of a medium avocado is 50 calories), we make sure that we do to keep the calories in check! We enjoy it cold on top of salads, warmed as a part of a dark chocolate avocado muffin, or mashed up as guacamole!
