Healthy Pie Crust

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

If you love pies and have been looking for a healthy but comparably tasty alternative you’re in luck!  To eliminate the fatty pie crust, try making a raw almond and date crust instead!  Pulse 2/3 cup of almonds in a food processor until they are chopped into tiny pieces.  Set the almonds aside in a bowl.  Put ½ cup packed, pitted dates mixed with 1 teaspoon of water in the food processor and pulse until they are clumpy.  Mix the chopped dates with chopped almonds to form a paste.  On wax paper, press the paste to form a crust and refrigerate for at least two hours.  Fill the cooled crusts with your favorite pie filling! Do you have a delicious and healthy alternative for you favorite summer pies?
