Maca Powder

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Maca is a root from the Andes mountains in Peru that has had a variety of uses by Peruvians including promotion of endurance, energy, sexual virility, and even fertility. It has also been known to have many health benefits and is a great suggestion to add to your diet. Maca is abundant in vitamins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, Vitamin C, B1, B2, B6, and B12 that all assist your bodily functions. And that’s not all…studies have shown that Maca contains two of the three fatty acids and offers incredible amounts of fiber!

To get your dose of Maca for raising your energy levels , try adding one teaspoon to smoothies, pancakes and other recipes or take ½ gram of the extract, twice a day, instead.

I have not tried Maca Root before, but I'm interested now that I'm viewing your blog (very nice blog by the way).

Ideally I'd LOVE to try it, because personally I'm trying to get rid of the need to drink coffee every morning. If Maca gives you the ability to boost energy, that would be great!!

I've weaned myself off coffee using maca and my friends are amazed (I was a self-proclaimed junkie). What many people do not realize is there are different colors (phenotypes) of maca which have different physiologic effects on the body. So if you think of it like a mushroom, taking maca is like taking "mushrooms". Which type? There is red, black, yellow, purple, 13 phenotypes in all...all doing different things for you. Be sure, Bob, you are using one for men as some maca can increase the size of the prostate and that is not what you want at all.

I was asked by my friend to try it only telling me that it was called maca(I did't know anything else) and I felt energized. I would recommend it for a natural energy booster.
