If you’ve seen our other recipes, read our blog or our newsletters, you are well aware that we’re registered dietitians, personal trainers, veggie lovers and twins with a double 😉 sweet tooth that we have to work hard to keep in check. You likely know we especially like hot or cold sweets and would go for a fro-yo or a hot cocoa any day over a gummy candy. And although coffee isn’t how we personally get our mornin’ mo’jo’, we certainly have nothing against a cup o’ Joe and find it helps many of our clients start their morning off on a peppier side, especially if that coffee squashes a sweet craving without all the fat and calories of most sweet morning treats. And now for this hot lil’ morning number…Mochas are the hot new thing this winter, but not only are they expensive at the local coffee joint, they can be loaded with sugar, cream, and calories. We’ve whipped up a skinny mocha that is so unbelievably delicious, even we were surprised as to how yummy it is with so few ingredients n there. A coffee that is less than 20 calories in the morning?! Umm, yes please! Get your quick coffee boost without creamer that’s filled with chemicals and preservatives. ‘Tis the season to be jolly—and healthy too!

Skinny Peppermint Caffè Mocha

 

Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. black coffee
  • ½ tbsp. stevia
  • 1 tsp. cocoa powder
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 2-3 drops peppermint extract

 

Directions:

  1. Put all ingredients in a blender and blend.
  2. Heat in microwave for about 1 minute.
  3. Sprinkle top with cocoa powder and enjoy!
