Yogurt Berry Trifle

We’re always looking for tasty treats that will satisfy our sweet tooth (and hopefully yours too!) and that won’t wreak havoc on waistlines like many traditional sweets typically do.  That’s why when we find better-for-you desserts that feel like a real splurge but that won’t ruin our hard work at the gym, we know we’ve gotta share ’em to help you to indulge your taste buds!

Say hello to our latest find… this Yogurt Berry Trifle—it’s creamy and feels indulgent, and provides you with protein (thanks to the OIKOS Greek yogurt!).It also contains fiber (courtesy of the berries), and is free of saturated fat (thanks to the nonfat yogurt and the fat free angel food cake)!  Delish. Check! Protein. Check! Sign us all up!  🙂

YOGURT BERRY TRIFLE

 

Angel food cake cubes float on clouds of Greek nonfat yogurt and assorted berries.

PREP TIME: 20 Minutes

YIELDS: 12 servings

 

Ingredients

•          4 CUPS FRESH SLICED STRAWBERRIES, OR ASSORTMENT OF BERRIES (RASPBERRIES, BLUEBERRIES, SLICED STRAWBERRIES)

•          2 TBSP. SUGAR

•          THE JUICE AND ZEST Of ONE NAVEL ORANGE (We love this orange twist)

•          4 CUPS CUBED ANGEL FOOD CAKE

•          3 CUPS Dannon® OIKOS® GREEK NONFAT VANILLA YOGURT

 

Directions

1.         MIX TOGETHER THE BERRIES, SUGAR, AND THE JUICE AND ZEST OF ORANGE, TOSSING TO COAT. SET ASIDE FOR 15-20 MINUTES.

2.         IN ONE OF 6 WINE GLASSES OR GLASS BOWLS PLACE 1/3 CUP CAKE CUBES, 1/3 CUP BERRIES AND 1/4 CUP YOGURT, REPEAT PROCESS ENDING WITH YOGURT. REPEAT WITH THE REMAINING GLASSES. REFRIGERATE TRIFLES UNTIL READY TO SERVE. TOP WITH A MINT IF DESIRED.

ONE LARGE TRIFLE CAN BE MADE IF DESIRED.
