Fun Exercises to do While Playing with Your Kids

Exercise can be a fun activity for the whole family.

Next time you’re at the playground don’t just think the monkey bars are for kids! Strengthen your upper body by swinging from the monkey bars to work out your arms and back. Use your arms to “walk” from one bar to another for 30 seconds. Repeat three times for a workout that isn’t any monkey business!

Tammy plays the “monster game” with her twins. She chases her girls around the playground like she’s a monster, climbing up the ladders and going down the slides—and she has fun while getting a little extra cardio in!

At home, floor exercises like the Superman can be fun pretending with your kids. Start by lying flat on your stomach and extending your arms above your head so you can really target those hard to reach, neglected lower back muscles. Raise your right arm and left leg simultaneously as high as you can and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat with opposite sides. Try for three sets of 10 reps on each side!

Tammy’s daughters have her be “the horsey” and buck and neigh with the girls on her back. It strengthens her whole body (and theirs!) and the little ones love it!

What kind of exercises do you like to do with your kids?
