Packing Lunch

Do you dread packing your lunch or your kid’s school lunches?

If you have kids, you know how unnerving it can be to send your children off to school with lunch money hoping they make healthy choices and don’t spend all of their money on snacks.

One way to ensure you and your kids eat a healthy lunch? Make it yourself. We know that this can seem like a daunting task to add to your already busy day, but here are a few tricks that Tammy uses for her daughters and that Lyssie uses to

make it easier—try them to make preparing your lunch and your kid’s lunches easier too!

  • Plan out all of the lunches you will make for the week over the weekend.
  • Make sure to buy everything you’ll need on Saturday or Sunday so you don’t have to make extra trips to the grocery store.
  • If making lunch for your kids, involve your kids in the process so that they’ll be eating foods they want to eat. Making a fun, colorful menu can make your children excited about the meals you plan out together. Tammy has her daughters come to the grocery store and put their favorite veggies and fruits in the grocery cart.
  • Rotate through different healthy snacks, such as berries, cut up apples, carrot sticks, and whole-wheat crackers with low-fat cheese so (you) and your kids don’t get bored of the same snacks every day.

Do you have a way to speed up the process of packing lunch? What are some of your kids’ favorite healthy bagged lunches?
