With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we can’t help but crave that delicious turkey! But how about vegetarians and vegans?
What options do they have on Thanksgiving instead of turkey?
By now many of you have probably heard of “Tofurky”. And we know what many of you are thinking—but don’t knock it until you try it! We admit that when we heard about “Tofurky” as kids, we made fun of it. But now we know the truth…
Tofurky happens to be an awesome option for vegetarians and vegans and even for you if you’re not either. Wait just a second before you snub it; we promise that after you try it, you’ll be begging for Tofurky—because it’s absolutely delicious!
“Tofurky” (tofu turkey) is a great alternative to turkey and it’s made solely from soy products. Surprisingly its texture and taste are as close to the real thing as you can get.
So how do you make a tofurky? We came across many recipes but this one is our favorite! We also have a great vegetarian stuffing recipe that goes perfectly with the tofu turkey. Check back with us tomorrow for that! Enjoy!
Tofu Turkey
What do I need?
• 1 thawed Tofurky (easily bought in any grocery store!)
• 1 apple of any color
• 1 cup crushed walnuts
• 1 cup dried berries
• ½ cup soy sauce
• 1 cup orange juice
• ½ cup of dried apricots
• tin foil
How do I make it?
Wrap tofurkey tightly in tin foil, leaving one side open. Place in a baking pan along with the soy sauce and orange juice. Cook on 375° for three hours while rotating the tofu turkey so the juice hits every part.
When time is up, remove turkey and serve with berries, apple slices, walnuts, and a little of the orange juice/soy mixture on top. Enjoy!
Have you ever tried Tofurkey or had a vegetarian turkey?
