Have you been indulging over the holiday season? You’re not alone! So many of us throw all of our healthy habits out the window when family is around and there’s a celebration going on. But don’t get discouraged!
Simply, get back on track as soon as you can, and minimize the damage by stepping up your workouts. If you know you tend to overeat during the holidays, make sure to get a workout in before family or other guests arrive. You’re less likely to overeat if you got a good workout …who wants to throw all of that hard work out the window? We know this works like a charm for us. It really does–don’t get lazy, get active!
Another way to stay on track? Try to get everyone involved by going out for a walk or a hike if the weather permits, or take the kids ice-skating. Need some alone time? See if your local gym has exercise classes planned for the holiday weekend. Most gyms, if they close at all, will reopen the day after a major holiday. You really don’t have to gain weight just because it’s the holiday season …fight the holiday bulge!
And what’s our secret when we are around tempting food and we’ve already had plenty? We pop a piece of sugar-free gum in our mouths. It distracts the taste buds – and voila, you’ll forget about wanting that extra piece of pie. It’s like magic!
