Protein For Recovery

Do you feel like you’re slow to recover from exercise? A new study published in Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise found that when you eat a high-protein snack before bed you significantly improve your overnight recovery from exercise.

We love to make our own healthy frozen yogurt for an evening snack. We freeze Greek yogurt over night. The next evening, we put it in the fridge when we are preparing dinner. When it’s time for an evening snack, the yogurt is the perfect consistency! (Some of our clients prefer the texture when they freeze it and then blend it in a food processor—it’s like a smoothie—yum!) We top it with fresh berries and a little bit of granola!

Another good option? Try low-fat or fat-free cottage cheese (look for low sodium varieties) with fresh berries or melon.
