It’s Garlic Day!! Garlic is an amazing spice because it can be added to so many different kinds of dishes and make any bland food taste heavenly. On top of that, it’s full of healthy nutrients! One of our favorite culinary tricks involves garlic, and we’re going to let you in on the secret!
We love to rub garlic onto our bread instead of using butter. Here’s how: Slice bread thinly – we love to use a crusty piece of whole wheat baguette or Italian bread. Toast the slices.* Rub a garlic clove over the warm bread. The garlic will melt just slightly onto the bread so you get the delicious flavor! We will sometimes drizzle a tiny bit of olive oil onto the bread as well. It’s a healthy alternative to the traditional bread and butter at the dinner table. We also use this trick when making dishes such as bruschetta!
*If you don’t like your bread toasted, put it in the toaster just long enough for the bread to warm up. Warm bread helps melt the garlic so it spreads easier.
