Summer, our favorite season, is officially here! Not only is it the season of our birthday, but we love the warm weather so much that Tammy named her daughter, Summer, after our adoration of summer! One of the reasons we’re such fans of the season is that we love the long hours of daylight. Whether we’re spending our days at the pool or on the beach, having energy to feel our best and make the most of every minute is paramount.
When it comes to ensuring that we can power through the entire day, one of the most important things is to always start our day with a healthy breakfast that will keep us satisfied and prevent us from being ravenous and overeating at our next meal, while it also doesn’t break the calorie bank. One of our breakfast faves that does all this is this Power Packed Peanut & Chocolate Covered Cherry Smoothie—it’s rich, creamy, sweet, refreshing and delicious—and it contains peanut butter so it feels really decadent! Peanut butter is not only nutritious since it’s high in fiber, protein and good fats, but it’s a great addition to mornings because it is a natural, plant-based source of protein and contains more than 30 essential nutrients and phytonutrients.
Power Packed Peanut & Chocolate Covered Cherry Smoothie
Power Packed Peanut & Chocolate Covered Cherry Smoothie
Start to finish: 5 minutes
Serves 3
Ingredients:
1 cup black cherry juice
1/4 cup peanut butter, smooth
8 oz vanilla nonfat Greek yogurt
1/2 small banana
1/4 tsp cinnamon, ground
1 tsp honey, strained or extracted
4 tsp unsweetened cocoa
1 cup ice
Preparation:
Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.
As an option, replace peanut butter, honey and cocoa with delicious dark chocolate peanut butter and nutrition facts would be slightly different.
