It’s official—holiday season has begun and lots of not-so-healthy holiday goodies seem to be everywhere we turn! If you’re in these same shoes, follow these tips to keep the nutrients flowing in while the holiday festivities are filling up your life!

Here are some of our favorite healthy eating tips that work well even during the holidays!

Holiday Tips

Add whole grains. Instead of using white flour – try using whole wheat flour in your recipes In some desserts, whole wheat pastry flour can be a good substitution for softer flours, like in these Ginger Cookies.

Replace some butter with yogurt in your baking like we do in our Creamy Corn Muffins

Have a meatless Monday every week. It’s important to not consume too much meat in your diet, so try something like our Meatless lasagna or our Creamy Spinach and Black Bean Quinoa

Have a salad with any meal and make them more festive and nutritious by adding seasonal fruits. Try having a mixed green salad with pomegranate arils or with clementine or mandarin orange pieces—yum!

Eating healthfully during the holidays doesn’t have to be a chore! You can slowly implement these tips into your every day diet and continue them throughout the whole year.
