Happy National Apple Pie Day!

Did you know that December 4th is National Apple Pie Day? Apple pie is one of our absolute FAVORITE desserts, but the traditional kind with a buttery crust and a sugar filled center is so draining! Enjoy the holiday AND keep your ENERGY levels high with our apple crumble recipe:

Apple Crumble

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium apples (we prefer Fuji), chopped into ½ inch cubes
  • ½ tbsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tbsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • ½ tbsp brown sugar
  • ¼ cup rolled oats
  • 3 tbsp whole wheat flour
  • ½ tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tbsp butter
  • ¼ tbsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Coat the apples in the ½ tbsp cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ½ tbsp brown sugar.
  3. Place in the bottom of a glass pan
  4. Combine oats, flour, butter, ½ tbsp brown sugar, and ¼ tbsp cinnamon. Rub together between your fingers until a sandy texture is created.
  5. Sprinkle the topping on top of the apples
  6. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the liquid that forms begins to bubble.
